AfricaLics PhD Visiting Fellowship Programme 2027
AfricaLics funds African doctoral students to spend three focused months at the University of Johannesburg on innovation-and-development research. It suits Nigerian PhD students in economics, social sciences or STEM-policy who want training, mentoring and a network.
Who it’s for
- PhD students enrolled at a university in an eligible African country (Nigeria qualifies)
- Research on innovation and development, from a social-science angle
- Students who will have finished their first PhD year by December 2026
- Fluent English speakers
What you get
A fully paid study visit to UJ from 6 September to 3 December 2027, with flights, accommodation, a monthly stipend, courses and mentoring, plus online activities before the visit.
Requirements
- One-page application (max 500 words)
- PhD project outline, up to 5 pages
- CV listing PhD courses taken
- Letter from main supervisor confirming PhD upgrade
- Letter of support from university administration
- Bachelor's and master's certificates
